Problem

The primary issue is that, to this day, Ah Gadol lacks a digital platform for communication between volunteers and lone soldiers. Currently, all interactions are conducted through messages or calls. The pairing of volunteers and soldiers is managed manually by volunteers in the administration, which is not an ideal process. Therefore, the platform should not only serve as a means of communication but also facilitate an improved matching system based on the volunteer's experience, the soldier's information, and preferences.

FILL IN DETALS

To discover similarities between a soldier and a potential brother, you first need to answer a couple of questions about yourself.

  MATCH & CHOICE

Once the application has helped identify several suitable matches, you can select and connect with one of them.

MEETING

Arrange a time that suits both parties to get to know each other better.

Solution

The platform, in the form of a mobile app, not only addresses communication gaps but also serves as a safe haven in a foreign country. Therefore, the design is intuitive, dynamic, multicultural, and fun. Regardless of the soldier's origin, they should feel supported and maintain a positive mood even in challenging situations. Moreover, since it is a digital platform, why not transform it into an information hub and a pocket migration guide?

The application has been divided into three parts:

MATCH

Based on interests, place of emigration, city of residence in Israel, etc.

TIPS FOR IMMIGRANT

Navigating bureaucracy - where to go and how to proceed.

COMMUNITY

Attend meetings with other individuals who are part of the association.

Competitive Analysis

This project encompasses several aspects:

  • Data filling

  • Identifying the right person (Ah Gadol / mentor)

  • Providing tips and assistance with bureaucracy for a soldier upon arrival in Israel

  • Sharing association and meeting news

Therefore, my research and inspiration came from:

1. Tinder - metch between people, allows you to correspond, call up on video.

google

2. Task apps - helps to undetstand what should be done and when, noting whe work done.

facebook

3. Facebook`s events - helps users find out what events are and which of their friends will go to it.

After spending half a year in the country and completing Ulpan Alef, he is awaiting conscription. As his Hebrew is not very proficient and he has no relatives in the country, he finds it challenging to navigate a few bureaucratic issues. Having someone's support would be greatly beneficial for him.

Having graduated from the army two years ago as a lone soldier, he remains alone in the country. Currently a student at the faculty of computer science, he works part-time and receives a scholarship. He was a part of the association during his time as a soldier, and now he considers it his duty to help others.

Information Architecture

The app comprises five essential components:

  • Home: Users can view personalized data relevant to them.

  • Profile: Users can access data associated with their profile, which is visible upon entering the app.

  • Match: Users have the ability to search for potential matches.

  • Tips: Users can find information to assist in resolving bureaucratic issues more efficiently.

  • Community: This feature aids users in discovering events and meeting new people.

Design

The core concept of Ah Gadol revolves around providing support and fostering mutual relations between volunteers and lonely soldiers. Consequently, the new logo has been crafted to symbolize interaction and positivity, aligning with the overarching circular theme of the design. The community is portrayed as a circle of friends, and the association follows its own circle of life - where most lone soldiers eventually become volunteers themselves.

The selection of colors is in accordance with the association's values: blue represents Israeliness, green signifies the duty of military service, and yellow embodies both joy and hope.
